Our Data & Analytics team is the heart of Data Engineering and Business Intelligence at SIXT. As part of our tech community, a team of highly motivated Data Engineers and BI Engineers is developing and operating the central data platform and self-service toolbox at SIXT. As a single point of truth, IT serves thousands of users at global scale, collects tens of millions of events daily, processes them according to our consumer’s needs and distributes them via a toolbox ranging from self-service batch processes to real-time ML model endpoints. Some of our main challenges currently include better automation of our operations, increased user self-service capabilities (for ingestion, ETLs and distribution), improving our ETL technologies, reducing the infrastructure footprint of our CDC ingestion and centralising and surfacing our dataset’s metadata to users. To continue our journey the Data & Analytics engineering team is actively searching for a new head at our Headquarter in Pullach near Munich that has the same passion for its tasks, challenges and visions but above all for data.


  • Lead and develop a team of Data Engineers and BI Engineers to further develop and improve our Batch and Streaming data pipelines, self-service toolbox, and user trainings

  • Lead us in the correct and future-proof direction of Data Architecture and choose the best out of the latest toolsets, frameworks, and public cloud services

  • Complete the migration of our analytical workloads to our new AWS-based data ecosystem

  • Solve complex storage/compute and architectural problems affecting the entire SIXT world

  • Translate Business Requirements into concrete technical proposals and partner with engineering leaders across Sixt and beyond to turn your proposals into live deployments


  • Proven and recurring success in architecting, deploying and maintaining distributed systems for the extraction, ingestion, processing and visualization of datasets in a hybrid batch/stream paradigm

  • Fundamental experience building, growing and managing multi-level teams of Data Engineers and Business Intelligence Engineers with a proven track record in successful rollouts of Hadoop/Hive, OLAP and stream-based projects

  • Experience in solving petabyte-level compute/storage optimization problems and in building and deploying a user self-service toolbox as well as building secure data governance and exchange solutions in a multi-tenant setup

  • Proficiency in Python and SQL is a must, Java and/or Scala a plus

  • Very good knowledge of the big-data toolbox (Kafka, Spark, Flink, Presto, etc.) and practical experience with their managed implementations in cloud services (primarily AWS)
